The streets of New York in the 1980s were a hotbed for many talented young artists. One of them was Jean-Michel Basquiat. At first he couldn’t afford canvases so he painted on walls and doors. But soon he became the rock star of the New York art scene.
There are currently two exhibitions on Basquiat in Paris. The most important one is about his collaboration and friendship with Andy Warhol in the Fondation Louis Vuitton. But if you really want to understand Basquiat, you have to listen to his musical influences in the Philharmonie.
