A dilapidated barn in Indiana, USA has revealed its secret – and that it is truly something to see for the fan of old American cars. However, if it’s a pleasure to look at, judge for yourself – the cars here are not exactly in top condition.
In fact, most of them that are overgrown with grass are already too far past the point of being worth saving. Inside the barn, however, the cars are in much better, if still not perfect, condition.
Why is it a treasure? A 1971 Dodge Charger SE stands next to three much more interesting machines – an Oldsmobile 442, a Plymouth Road Runner, and most notably a 1970 Charger R/T. The standard engine for this model was a 440 Magnum V8, where the number indicates displacement in cubic inches; in liters it is 7.2. A seven-liter 426 Hemi was also available, but the car in the video is said to have the larger engine.
Despite a lot of dust, the cars don’t look like they need much work. But in this case, appearances are always deceiving. If the car has been standing for several years, before driving, in addition to changing all fluids – including gasoline and cleaning the tank – and tires, it is also advisable to renew the rubber hoses and seals. And when you start to drive it, other components that have not benefited from long inactivity are gradually heard.
On the other hand, the fact that it was found in this way – or in this case rather rediscovered, because according to the video the owner knew what he had in the garage – complete, is quite an achievement and the best possible basis for the renovation that these cars will surely need.
The video is of an older date, but it was published only a few days ago, and its author says in it that the car owner really works on cars – he has a workshop for it and he does it in his spare time.
Treasures in the form of historic cars can still be found, says the collector
