“Discovering a Hidden Collection: 230 Vintage Cars Up for Auction”

Although sometimes it may seem that all the vintage cars hidden in the barns have already been found, there is always something surprising for the vintage car fan. Sometimes it’s just a few pieces in an old barn, but this time we have a giant collection in front of us, numbering some 230 pieces of all kinds of cars from decades old.

There are Astons, Alfas, Ferraris, Lancias, Facel Vega, NSUs, Maseratis, Lincolns, Mustangs, Cadillacs, Mercedes, Jaguars, at least one Talbot, BMW and a lot of other cars, including the Tatra 87, which only flashes in the video, but according to the bow with three headlights is safe to recognize. The collection also includes pieces from little-known brands such as Moretti, Matra or Villard.

A man named Palmen, who made a living trading classic cars, started collecting them several decades ago. Apparently he didn’t sell all of them, he bought some for himself and hid them in two warehouses and an old church in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. He kept his collection a secret, he didn’t show it to people much, and he took care of the cars himself, but he kept them in their original condition, he didn’t renovate them.

The Aaldering gallery, which will sell the cars at auction, writes that its representatives have known about the collection for a long time, but have never seen it. Until now, for unspecified reasons, Mr. Palmen could no longer take care of the collection, so it came into the hands of the gallery. Judging by how dusty the cars are, they haven’t been cared for in quite a few years.

The cars will be up for grabs in an online auction that will take place from May 19 to early June, when it will gradually end in three phases. It is difficult to estimate what the yield will be, but some of the cars in the collection have enormous value even in pre-renovation condition.

Treasures in the form of historic cars can still be found, says the collector
