Research shows that your choice of wine can reveal more than just your taste preferences, it can reveal your personality, hobbies, and even your career.

As writes StudyFinds, a recent survey of 2,000 American adults who drink wine regularly examined personality differences with their favorite wine. The results showed that red wine drinkers are more likely to identify themselves as introverts (48%), while those who enjoy sparkling wine are often outgoing and consider themselves extroverts (40%).

Rosé drinkers tend to be in the middle, considering themselves ambiverts (32%).

The survey conducted by OnePoll for Barefoot Wine in honor of National Wine Day also showed that respondents drink an average of five glasses of wine per week.

When it comes to social gatherings, sparkling wine (26%) and red wine (23%) enthusiasts describe themselves as “silent observers”. In contrast, rosé wine drinkers were more likely to take on the role of “party planners” (19%), while white wine drinkers enjoyed capturing moments with photos or being the life of the party (20% each).

Wine preferences and interests

Interestingly, white wine enthusiasts described themselves as “indoor people” (38%), while red wine lovers preferred spending time outdoors (36%). This difference may explain why red wine drinkers are more likely to be early risers (46%), while rosé and white wine drinkers are more likely to be night owls (33% each).

In terms of pets, sparkling wine (29%) and red wine (40%) drinkers were more likely to have dogs, while rose (17%) and white wine (27%) drinkers tended to be cat owners.

Choice of wine and career

The survey also examined the careers of respondents and found that healthcare was the most popular industry for lovers of sparkling wines (31%), red wines (21%) and rosé wines (19%). On the other hand, white wine drinkers tended to work in accounting or finance (19%), or in engineering and manufacturing (17%).

Favorite wines by zodiac sign

Interestingly, your zodiac sign can also correlate with your wine preferences. Gemini (20%), Cancers (13%) and Taurus (10%) preferred white wine. Leo (18%) and Libra (11%) preferred sparkling wine, while Scorpio (13%) and Virgo (16%) preferred rosé wine.

It is worth noting that lovers of sparkling and red wines are more prone to boldness and are considering the possibility of getting tattoos (70% each).
