Until September 17, the Musée du Pays de Cocagne is hosting “Colored Symphonies” an exceptional exhibition of works by Jac Martin-Ferrières.
It’s already summer at the Musée de Cocagne! The traditional sunny days exhibition has opened its doors this year offering to discover the work of Jac Martin-Ferrières.
After having proposed in the summer of 2017 an exhibition “Around Henri Martin, on the paths of post-impressionism”, the Cocagne museum is presenting an exhibition this summer which retraces the work of its fourth son.
If his family and the arts formed a great love story, the artist began studying literature and science. This scientific diploma will serve him later, thanks to his knowledge of chemistry, to allow him to work on his pictorial techniques.
We find his desire to emancipate himself from paternal references by using a pseudonym and the desire to find, successfully, “another way”. A great experimenter, he also devoted himself to painting frescoes or oil for large religious decorations in Paris, Montauban or Romans.
An exceptional exhibition
This attraction for travel is reflected in the exhibition with landscapes from Portugal or the United States. During his travels, the artist also crossed the Iron Curtain.
Contrary to its habits, the Musée de Cocagne does not propose here to discover an artist’s period but has brought together works from the artist’s entire career. It has also been endowed with a large deposit with hundreds of studio works.
But to go further in the realization of the exhibition, the museum also went to convince institutions and individuals to allow the general public to discover works within the framework of this major retrospective of the artist. This is also the first devoted to Jac Martin-Ferrières.
Thanks to the funds he already has, the artist should figure prominently in the future museum when it opens its doors.
