The historical and archaeological society of Albret has just published its 45th issue. Dive into the signs of the region’s rich history, especially through the history of its castles.
The 45th issue of the Albret Archaeological and Historical Society, in 88 pages with plenty of pictures, offers new topics: castle rooms and noble houses of Albret, Bruilhois and Condomois from the 12th – 19th century.
Historically, what was called in the great southwest, “Talla Turas”, may have designated the fortified house of a local lord’s vassal, a building reserved for the oldest of the family. In fact, a fortified farm, more than a fortified castle. From the 18th century, this term was gradually replaced by the word castle. This is what we see in the various land registers that have been consulted. The name of the town sometimes comes from this.
The study presented is the result of research findings over more than 20 years of detailed research in the national archives, those in the departments of Gers, Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques. This shows the full interest of the work which does not fail to develop the history of the families connected to the place, the estates and other important events such as the sale of property,
The Tasta room
The brochure locates this building on a section from the cadastral plan of the Nérac association. It can be seen (like a castle) from the D 656 going to Mezin. Just below, a picture of Puyalte shows this well. The extract from the following text provides an example of the information you should know: “On 3 October 1309 Amanieu gave the lordship of Albret an Taste to Amadon de Lard, bourgeois of Nérac. In 1536, the family gave homage to Henri d’Albret by the family of Barrau of the hall of Tastar In 1545, Monsieur Dandiran of the noble hall of Tastar, gave homage to the lord of Albret, with his relations in the dominion of Nérac, lord of Tasta, co-master of Andiran the marriage of Jeanne de Bezolles , sold in Taste in 1560 to Pierre de Courtion, lord of Douazan… – … de Galard, who lived in Bordeaux and Jeanne Marie Brassay de Jausselin, lived at the Château du Taste, commune Nérac, daughter of Joseph Raymond Brassay de Jausselín, squire, and Françoise Suzanne de Melet, who lives in the Château du Tasta August 9, 1902. died in Mustapha, rue Enfantin, Algeria, Françoise Guyonnet wife of Henri-Urbain baron de Marquessac, aged 62, born in Bordeaux, daughter of the late Gustave baron de Guyonnet and the late Clémence de Brassay de Jausselin.”
