A new cultural space in the Garonne area of the A62 motorway. Near Castelsarrasin in Tarn-et-Garonne, a statue and an artistic trail pay tribute to the local child: Pierre Perret.
“Pretty summer camps”, “My little wolf”, “The willy” or “Lily”, so many songs that rocked the childhood of many French people. Pierre Perret, the singer, discovered his statue in the Garonne service area of the A62 motorway.
Between Toulouse and Bordeaux and accessible in both directions, a statue and an artistic trail pay tribute to the career of the singer-songwriter of “The birdcage”.
This new “musical area” is located near the hometown of Pierre Perret, Castelsarrasin in Tarn-et-Garonne.
Many cultural spaces, colleges, schools, media libraries and libraries have chosen to attribute the name of Pierre Perret to their establishments.
“About fifty establishments already bear the name of Pierre Perret and I am of course very honored,” underlines the person concerned.
But this is a first time for a motorway rest area and it is once again very surprising.

The tribute to Pierre Perret was imagined by the artist couple, Pascale and Thierry Delorme. The installation is a round of silhouettes surrounding two statues, one bearing the image of a child Pierre Perret and the other representing him as an adult. Throughout this journey, you will rediscover the singer’s greatest hits.
He is a singer with a lot of humanity. The work represents his entire artistic journey. We imagined a round starting from children to adults.

After Claude Nougaro on the A61, Charles Trenet, Boby Lapointe and Georges Brassens on the A9 motorway, Pierre Perret becomes the 5th singer-songwriter to benefit from an area in his name on the motorway network.
