According to what was reported by “The Verge” website, the Messages application is getting a redesign and some useful new tools, and here is what you can do now in Messages using iOS 17 that you could not do before.
Transcribe voice messages
If you can’t listen to voice messages sent to you for whatever reason or you simply want to look at your screen to see what’s going on, the new automatic transcription option is useful.
When someone sends you a voice message on iOS 17, it will arrive with text written underneath it, and you don’t have to press play. You can just read the text instead. The text is always attached, and you can’t turn the feature off.
Search using multiple filters
You can now combine multiple terms and filters in the same message search. Swipe down on the main conversation list, tap the search box at the top, and start searching for something (like a person or word).
Also, once you select a filter from the drop-down list of suggestions, you can add another filter. For example, you can search for links that mention a specific word or for images sent by a specific contact instead of using these criteria individually.
Applications in messages
The various widgets that come with Messages, from music to photos, have been moved behind the + button (to the left of the text input box. Tap it to see the apps you use most, then tap More to see the rest.
Press and hold one of these apps, and you can then drag it to a new position in the list, which is useful if you want certain apps to be within easy reach at all times.
