Discover the Music and Nightlife of South-East France: From Classical Festivals to Starry Nights

In your South-East holiday guide, we find a festival that democratizes classical music in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, between Vichy and Roanne. In Avignon, get ready for the Nuit des Étoiles and for a visit to the Palais des Papes by night, and in Nîmes, don’t miss the new big night show at the arenas.

The Monts de la Madeleine Festival has taken place every summer for 20 years between Roanne and Vichy and offers a program of concerts and classical music shows. It’s a highlight in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, around several musical styles and sometimes with recitals in local people’s homes, as Willy Bouche, the programmer of this meeting, points out: “It’s essentially classical music , chamber, but we have some openings towards other aesthetics such as jazz and Celtic music. 23 municipalities are participating this year. And there are 20 concerts and 13 recitals at the inhabitant. The goal is to bring the music to everyone, in a castle, a cellar or a garden. It is very varied and it has been very popular for 20 years”.
