The fortified castle of Sedan is an emblematic place in the Ardennes. It is the favorite monument of the French! Award received a few months ago during a show on France 3 with Stéphane Bern. The most beautiful castles here
10km from Reims is the Château de Gueux. The first occupants were the archbishops of Reims and then the Counts of Champagne. Tradition wanted the Kings of France to take a break at the castle before their coronation in the Reims Cathedral. In reality, the monarchs rather stopped at Fismes and passed through Gueux on their way back to Paris after the coronation ceremony.
The Château de Gueux is nicknamed “Ladies of France” because the daughters of Louis is NAPOLEON’s last military campaign. His final victory was at Reims. On this occasion, Russian troops lodged at the Château de Gueux. In the middle of the 19th century, Eugène Roederer, director of the famous champagne house, bought the château which It’s not in very good condition. It’s time for work and the development of a park.
It was between the two wars that the birth Golf thanks to friends in the champagne world. In 1973, Charles Henri Heidsieck took over as head of the association. Even today, the Château de Gueux golf course is a real setting for sports enthusiasts…and for those who simply want to relax a few minutes from Reims.

In Bergères-sous-Montmirail, the Bergères castle dates from the 17th century. It is classified as a historic monument. A direct descendant of LA FAYETTE was one of the owners.
In the direction of Châlons, here we are in Baye. The history of the castle begins at the very beginning of the 13th century with a lord, descendant of King LOUIS VI. The courtesan Marion Delorme was raised at the Château de Baye. She was one of RICHELIEU’s mistresses.
In Pierry is the Château des Aulnois which we owe to a Champagne winegrower. Its listed octagonal living room is lined with hand-painted papers. You can also see a monumental wooden press and a French garden. It is a property of Champagne Henriot.
Brugny-Vaudancourt Castle was built on the remains of a medieval castle destroyed during the Hundred Years’ War. It was surrounded by large ditches. Of the four wings, only two remain today. King Henry IV is said to have stayed there. A castle that has never been sold.
The Château de Boursault is one of the most beautiful in the Marne. Its construction began in 1842. The work only lasted 6 years. It is Renaissance style. The castle is surrounded by an important wine estate which produces champagne “Boursault Castle“. It’s the only champagne to bear the name “Château” in the Marne. If you can’t sleep there, you can get married there!
