Explain your project as simply as possible
What does your KAP bring to student life?
The KAP certainly changes the perspective of student life. Unlike a “normal” kot, the fact of adding a common project makes it possible to unite the co-kotteurs much more who, for the majority of KAP’s, do not know each other before the recruitment dinners.
In addition to creating strong ties with people from different backgrounds, it also allows you to meet a lot of people. The KAP’s are a kind of big family. To draw a parallel with scouting, it’s as if each KAP was a staff within the same unit. Finally, depending on the project, it allows you to invest in order to either beautify and bring life to the campus by offering various and varied activities to students, or to support and contribute to a cause that is close to our hearts.
As you may have already guessed, the downside to all of this is that a KAP still requires a lot of time, which leaves less time for other activities.
Tell us about an unusual situation in which you have found yourself since you have been in KAP?
One day, I found myself having a battle of wizards with fireworks (Roman candles) in the middle of the street. It was quite funny and people looked at us with amusement while taking us for crazy!
What will you miss the most when you are no longer a student?
Already, student life is divided into two: academic life and social life. It is certain that I will miss leaving campus, stopping going to amphitheaters, stopping seeing friends in practical work or in the lab. But what will be missed the most is obviously the social aspect. Studying in Louvain-la-Neuve and being in a kot-à-projet allowed me to meet a lot of people, each with their own interests and studies. It is certain that after a few years in kap and after having left Louvain-la-Neuve, it is normal to stop systematically meeting new people every week, but it is certain that all these discussions in sik (= inter -kap), in activity, in the street, … will miss me. But hey, that’s life after all, pages that turn!
