More and more hedonistic behavior of officials and their families is revealed. This time it was Massdes Arouffy’s turn, one of the Jakarta Transportation Agency officials.
The spotlight was on him after a photo of his wife carrying a Hermes bag circulated on social media. “Guess the price of the bag (ignore the necklace),” wrote the account @PartaiSocmed, which was accompanied by a photo of the man who served as Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency’s (Dishub) Traffic and Road Operational Control Division and his wife.
From the comments that flooded the upload, many doubted the authenticity of the Hermes Birkin bag carried by Massdes’ wife.
“Most likely the bags above, whose original price was > 100 million, all KW. Very messy with clothes that are not branded, and make-up that is not classy,” wrote the account @mharisman with a blue tick.
But if the bag is real, the account continues, The KPK needs to carry out an inspection to all heads of the Jakarta Transportation Agency. So how much does an original Hermes Ombre bag cost?
Sotheby’s website recently included the ‘Hermès Ombre Birkin 25cm of Varanus Salvator Lizard with Palladium Hardware’ in its auction collection. The shape and appearance are similar to the bag belonging to Massdes’ wife, but there is a difference in the motif of this exotic leather type leather bag.
If the Hermes bag that went viral has a motif that resembles python skin and color gradations starting from the center, while the Hermes bag auctioned by Sotheby’s is dominated by spotty coral.
Sotheby’s calls this Hermes bag rare because it is made from the skin of the Asian water monitor lizard (Varanus salvator) and has a Hermes signature lock called the Palladium Hardware.
The interior is finished in luxurious Parchemin stitching and features a zipper with the name ‘Hermes’ engraved on it. Sotheby’s estimates that the bag will sell for around US$ 100,000 – US$ 120,000 or Rp. 1.4 billion – Rp. 1.7 billion.
Not only his wife, Massdes’ daughter also showed off luxury bags, from the Lady Dior Bag for IDR 60 million to Balenciaga for IDR 17.6 million.
