full screen The goal is for the headband to help us explore human consciousness.
Imagine if you could control your dreams by wearing a headband while you sleep.
It’s a sick thought – which may soon be true.
But do we really want that?
This spring, a first version of the new AI innovation “Halo” will be released, which will turn us into superhumans while we sleep. The new brain technology company Prophetic claims that they have succeeded in creating the world’s first wearable gadget that can stabilize “lucid dreams”.
That is what they are called, dreams where the dreamer is aware that he is dreaming and can sometimes control the events of the dream. In other words: Christopher Nolan’s iconic film “Inception” may soon become a reality. The goal is that the headband, which emits ultrasound signals and is powered by the self-crafted AI model Morpheus-1, will help us explore human consciousness.
What a dream!
Being able to control your dreams yourself opens up a series of new possibilities for those who have 20,000 bucks to spare (that’s how much the AI-powered headband should cost). But honestly, 20 salmon is a cheap price to pay to become superhuman, even for someone who grew up in one of Sweden’s poorest municipalities.
But what magical possibilities am I really talking about? Let me be specific. Anyone who can determine the content of their dreams suddenly has 24 hours at their disposal every day. The rest of us lazy worms, without AI headbands, waste a week or so every month doing nothing but sleeping. It sounds stupid, if instead you can learn new things in your sleep.
How about a new language, like Japanese? Or why not become a sommelier and learn everything about wine? The possibilities are endless. You can complete a four-year law degree in less than three years if you study in your sleep every night (NOTE! considering the AI revolution, I would probably have chosen a different profession).
This sleep revolution could make us all superhuman. When you can control what you dream, your dreams can become incubators infocloseincubators An incubator is something that has the purpose of promoting and facilitating start-up companies’ path towards growth and profitability. for artistic creation. In other words: when you wake up, you have finally cracked that idea that you started the day before but failed to finish. Maybe it’s about a business idea that will secure your family’s future?
But life isn’t just about money.
We want to feel good too. So how about super therapy 24/7? The AI headband enables controlled therapy in the dream state. This means that you can process your problems in a way that is not possible when you are awake and life is going at ultra-fast speed with no room for reflection.

fullscreen We have yet to see any concrete evidence that the dream machine works.
How the new cutting-edge technology will shape our future, our societies, and our innermost selves remains to be seen. No evil that has no good in it, our forefathers used to say. In the new AI world, it’s the other way around. No good that has no evil in it. It’s as easy to come up with risks as opportunities with the AI headbands. Distorting reality always has a price.
Will we be able to tell the difference between what is a dream and what is not? As with all technology, there is also a risk of being hacked. In this case, by someone who wants to manipulate your thoughts and dreams for commercial, political, or other unethical purposes. And just like in the case of Elon Musk’s brainchild Neuralink, which I wrote about a few weeks ago, this kind of innovation can lead to deeper societal divides because not everyone can afford to use the technology.
But above all: Will the AI headband live up to the high expectations? We have yet to see any concrete evidence that the dream machine works. But test subjects are wanted and this spring a beta version will be released before the full-scale one launch next year.
As soon as we know if the dream, or the nightmare, is true.
