Nature preserve

Sir Bani Yas Island is one of the largest wildlife reserves, and after decades of development, Sir Bani Yas has become home to about 15,000 free animals and birds, and millions of trees and plants. The island also follows several breeding programs for endangered species.

Rashid Bakas, Director of the Rooms Department at Anantara Hotels on Sir Bani Yas Island, says that the island was a barren desert with no good or growth, but the “desert afforestation” program resulted in the planting of about one million and 200 thousand Sidr trees, in addition to the savanna trees that are abundant. In the areas near the reserve, especially near the Anantara’s Al Sahel Villas, there are more than one million Sidr trees, 1,500 Siwak trees, and 5,000 olive trees, all of which are irrigated by desalinating sea water. “The reserve witnessed the introduction of a variety of animals, including all kinds of deer, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, wild goats, ostriches, peacocks, houbara bustards, and other types of birds,” Bakas explains.

The reserve follows several breeding programs for endangered animal species.

environmental balance

In line with preserving the natural balance of the environment, a group of small non-toxic snakes were released to eliminate small insects so that they do not exceed the required number, and at the same time they are considered food for peacocks. The visitor to the reserve witnesses the process of hunting hungry cheetahs for some deer, and this happens once every two days. It is there.” As Bkas says, who confirms that there have never been any incidents of attacks on visitors, guides, or those in charge of the reserve, by predators, given the tight organization of the reserve.
