One of the particularities of the city of Rennes is the mosaics of the Odorico family. An omnipresent heritage on the facades, floors, walls of shops and administrative buildings.
Enzo is rather spoiled. His office looks like a golden palace. However, he works in a creperie. But here, the walls are covered in mosaics. Some customers come expressly to admire them and connoisseurs rush towards the flagship room: the bathroom.
Circular patterns and color schemes
This house, in which they will have lunch, belonged to a renowned mosaicist in Rennes: Isidore Odorico. Even if the owners have changed, all have preserved these walls. Just look up and see Odorico mosaics all over the city.
These circular patterns, these plays of color and light are the signature of Isidore Odorico. He thus decorated numerous public buildings in the interwar period. The artist comes from an Italian family of mosaicists, but was born in Rennes.
Isidore Odorico spread his works throughout the west of the country. The specialist in finding them is Daniel Enocq. He looks for them even in unexpected places, as you can see in the video at the top of this article.
