Discover the architecture of Montluçon: The legacy of Pierre Diot

On the panels, details and facades of more or less known buildings. An impressive number of streets mentioned: rue de l’industrie, rue du Diénat, Gabriel-Péri, Achille-Allier, Chantoiseau…

The architect Pierre Diot left his mark. “He made the city grow,” says Mayor Frédéric Laporte. From June 3 to September 16, the Bains douches, avenue Jules-Ferry, are reserved for this “actor in the modernization of Montluçon”. “It was he who designed these old public baths! »

The exhibition was already largely presented to the public last year, at the media library. However, some new features have slipped into the lot. Like the war memorial in the Place de l’Egalité, or the many participations of the architect, throughout the entire Montluçonnaise area.

Visits and conferences

To “highlight history”, several conferences will be organized around the theme of architecture. Starting with the history of secular patronage, June 10, at 3 p.m. But also the life of Pierre Diot, June 23, at 6 p.m., or the story of La Bouchatte, September 20.

At the height of summer, on July 8 and August 19, at 2 p.m., a guided tour departing from Place Piquand will invite you to discover the collaboration between Marx Dormoy, the mayor, and Pierre Diot. Finally, on July 1 and September 2, at 3 p.m., readings on the theme of architectural heritage will be presented by the Heritage Mission team, behind the Pierre Diot exhibition.

Schedule

In June and July, the exhibition will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. In August and September, same hours, except Tuesdays.
