The Cité des sciences invites you to a space month of June: two new shows for schoolchildren at the planetarium – “Ready to take off” and “The Universe seen from Earth” – and an extraterrestrial weekend, in free access, are available. offered in June. The new shows at the Planetarium

The Planetarium transforms into a spaceship and offers two new 30-minute shows. “Ready for take off” invites children from 5 years old and their companions on an immersive journey through the solar system for a mission of great importance: the Voyager 1 probe sent into space 43 years ago, risk everything when it is time to switch off, it must be found and recharged urgently. This is the opportunity to approach successively the moon, the international space station, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, before joining the probe. This show is organized in five sequences, punctuated by times of discussion and surprising anecdotes. Throughout this journey, the captain presents the spectators with scientific information about the Solar System, using questions and surprising anecdotes. This original film allows the public to slip into the skin of a astronaut.

“The Universe Seen From Earth” unfolds the history of astronomy and reveals to the public how science explains the night sky. It invites us to understand the movement of the stars, the phases of the Moon, the composition of galaxies, the birth of the northern lights… This information is made more and more precise thanks to the use of giant telescopes which allow us to go back to more than 100 million years, beyond the Big Bang. But there are still mysteries and exploration continues. Each spectator steps into the shoes of a astronaut during a spectacular journey.

An extraterrestrial weekend on June 26 and 27, 2021

The extraterrestrial weekend is free. On the program are mediations, artist videos, a round table and even the possibility of writing interstellar messages! The conferences “Hello Earth: do you have a message? »Allow to meet and discuss with researchers around the theme of interstellar communication. These events scheduled in the auditorium must be reserved.

“Let’s talk extraterrestrial” is scheduled in the free-access hall on Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27 non-stop, from 2 pm to 5 pm. The public is invited to come and discuss intelligent extraterrestrial life with the scientific mediators of the Cité des sciences et de l’Industrie.
