“Safecast” is a radiation dose measurement project established in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. Safecast participants are accumulating data using devices that can record radiation dose and location information, and radiation dose maps based on the information collected by volunteers have also been published.

Click “Safecast Snapshot” in the “Layer” menu to view measurement results separated by period. You can also hide the legend at the bottom right of the screen by clicking the × button.
The radiation dose measurement results around Fukushima Prefecture from March 11, 2011 to September 10, 2011 are as follows. The area surrounded by the green line is the difficult-to-return area.
By moving the slider at the top left of the screen, you can switch the measurement timing of the displayed data. For example, the measurement results from March 11, 2012 to September 10, 2012 are as follows.
The measurement results from March 11, 2016 to September 10, 2016, five years after the earthquake, are as follows. It can be seen that the areas with high doses are decreasing as time passes.
In addition, Safecast is recruiting volunteers who will be responsible for radiation dose measurement and translation on the following page.
