The industry professions are recruiting but it seems difficult to plan ahead, mainly due to a lack of knowledge of the subject. In an unprecedented way, John Cockerill Services, in Beuvange-Sous-Saint-Michel, recently organized an open day, precisely to show the diversity of its trades (welding, boilermaking, electromechanical, maintenance, etc.) and the missions entrusted to its teams.
This branch of the John Cockerill group manufactures specific parts for a large number of industries: chemicals, steel, rail, river, cement, conventional, renewable and even nuclear energy production. The company also designs and supplies certain new industrial equipment and subassemblies such as shunting locomotives, gears, butterfly valves, diesel engines and spare parts. The Thionville branch alone has 170 employees.
On the day of the visit, young people old enough to choose a professional orientation, adults with a retraining project or job seekers walked through the vast hall transformed into a showroom of the company’s activities. A job dating also allowed about thirty people to deepen the subject, to submit a CV.
John Cockerill Services is currently in the recruitment phase in Lorraine: mechanics, team leaders, welders, pipe fitters, plan assembler… A whole family of professions is looking for its new talents.
