“Save a book, don’t let them destroy it”, this is how the 15th edition of the CDMX Grand Auction of Books and Movies is announced. If you want to get books from 10 pesos, you can’t miss this event. We give you details.
When and where will the 15th Great Book and Movie Auction be held in CDMX?
The free cultural bazaar will take place from Wednesday, April 5 to Sunday, April 9, on the esplanade of the Monument to the Revolution. This in a schedule from 11 am to 8 pm. It will be five days for you to delve into the tables of more than 130 exhibitors, who will bring books, magazines, comics and movies at very low prices.
Offers of books and films that will be in the 2023 edition
The event has the objective of giving another opportunity to the copies of books that have already gone through sales and balances, but since they have not come out, they are going to be sent to the shredder.
To encourage you to take a pair, there will be books priced between 10 and 100 pesos. Large, small publishers and even old bookstores will participate. In previous editions, more than one hundred publishers joined, including Planeta, Penguin Random House, Trillas, Educal, Mar de Libros UNAM, INAH, Larousse, Ediciones Era, Algarabía, Proceso, Océano and El Chamuco.
Remember that in addition to the auction books, you can find comics, magazines and DVD movies, especially art films.
Reading habits in Mexico according to INEGI
According to the National Reading and Writing Survey, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the percentage of the population aged 6 years and over who declared having read at least one book in the last 12 months was 50.7%. In other words, although there is a significant percentage of the Mexican population that reads, there are still challenges in terms of promoting reading.
Regarding the literary genres preferred by Mexican readers, textbooks, novels and short stories are the most popular.
