By taking color, old black and white images immediately seem closer to us, our time and our reality. A striking effect once again demonstrated with this old video made in New York almost 100 years ago and very recently colorized.
The scenes you are going to see have been digitally edited by Joaquim Campa. We observe workers balancing on the construction of the Chrysler Tower which would become the tallest building of the time (77 floors).
It was in 1929. 3,000 people worked on this extraordinary site which lasted two years. In color, here is what it looked like:
At the time, as the comments of Loopsider, the workers worked above the void, without harness, like tightrope walkers exposed to all dangers.
Yet, Ô miracle, the construction of the Chrysler tower would not have caused any death …
