From July, the rates charged by gas infrastructure manager Fluxys will be reduced. For small consumers, this means a discount of 3 euros on the gas bill. Per year.

The share of Fluxys’ transmission tariffs in the gas bill is limited. In normal times the tariffs account for 3 to 4 percent of the bill, in the current context of high gas prices that is even only 2 percent. Nevertheless, Fluxys and the federal energy regulator Creg have decided to cut tariffs by 10 percent from 1 July. For the period 2022-2023, this amounts to a total amount of 45 million euros that will flow to the consumer.
The announced tariff reduction is the result of the evolution of the regularization account and is in line with the desire of Fluxys Belgium and the CREG to support consumers in a context of high natural gas prices.
For small consumers – confronted with the most expensive gas prices ever – the reduction in transmission rates is a drop in the ocean: 3 euros per year, Fluxys calculated. “That is indeed not much for a small consumer. But for large consumers – such as some companies – that can come down to several thousand euros,” said a spokesperson for the gas carrier.
