The “Discord” app continues to grow rapidly in terms of the number of users, and in connection with this, the company has come up with important news. In the coming weeks, it will be mandatory for most Discord users to update their username. The company says the new changes will make it easier to differentiate between users.
Until now, to make it easier to distinguish between users with an identical username, a four-digit tag was added to the end of them. If you use Discord, you must have noticed this. However, as part of the new changes, most users will be given a new unique alphanumeric username with an “@” symbol in front of it. Discord notes that users will also be able to choose a non-unique username that includes special characters, emoticons, and other symbols. At the same time, it will still be possible to find users by their old username.
The company says that “over the next few weeks” users will be able to gradually start updating their usernames, and a notification to do so will also appear in the app itself. Importantly, priority will be given to Discord “veterans”, or those who have been using the app for a long time. This means that the longer you use Discord, the sooner you will be able to choose your new username.
