Franco-Italian car giant Stellantis recently announced that production of the all-electric Fiat 500 model will be temporarily halted as European orders for the car are still being held up.
The Fiat 500e was consistently rated as the cutest car.
Stellantis also owns several other brands, such as Vauxhall, Maserati, Chrysler, Opel, Citroën and Peugeot, among others.
This car’s limited mileage, slow braking and general lack of convenience make it a niche product for the urban edition of urban dwellers. Like any long-term car driver, electric vehicle drivers strive for the best balance between price and quality.
The Fiat 500 electric model is currently being produced in Turin, at the Mirafiori factory. Stellantis also revealed that this factory will undergo a major change that will involve an investment of 100 million euros.
This investment is expected to be used to develop a hybrid version of the all-electric Fiat 500 model, as well as higher performance batteries. Production of the hybrid version of the car is expected to begin sometime next year and into 2026.
The move comes as the European electric vehicle (EV) market continues to see a decline in demand, particularly affecting European EV makers who are struggling to keep up. up to Chinese ones.
This has prompted several European EV makers, as well as battery makers, to adjust their production capacities and expectations to account for reduced demand in the coming months.
