A man has created beautiful works of art by cross-dying maps. Ed Fairburn, 32, from Dorset has combined his love of portraits and fine art with his love of old maps and created these amazing works of art.
The full-time artist has been creating these unique paintings for ten years, after leaving art school in 2012, he now sells his work direct from his home studio, as well as to galleries around the world.
Ed explains, “My work with the maps began as a series of experiments, as I was ‘hijacking’ the patterns of cartography, as well as using my own patterns, while using my favorite methods of scratching, pencil drawing and painting. Art took off quickly thanks to the power of the internet, so I decided to quit my job to work in my studio full time and have now been self-employed for ten years.”
