Tom Pidcock was particularly unhappy with his non-selection for the Tour of Lombardy, the last Monument of the cycling season which will be run on Saturday.
The Briton was “deselected” by his INEOS Grenadiers team, he wrote on Friday on Instagram, “as things moved forward again after a turbulent season.”
“I’m in great shape and I was looking forward to it”wrote Pidcock on social networks, when he thought he was running ‘Il Lombardia’ for the first time on Saturday. The Olympic mountain bike champion finished 2nd in the Tour of Emilia behind the invincible Tadej Pogacar last Saturday.

“I guess that means the holidays start a little earlier.”quipped Tom Pidcock by publishing a photo of the podium of the Tour d’Émilie, precisely, where he rubbed shoulders with Pogacar and the Italian Davide Piganzoli. “Thank you everyone for the support, even in difficult times,” he concluded. The rag burns between the versatile 25-year-old runner and his team, to which he is still linked until the end of the 2027 season. Rumors point to a premature departure, while Pidcock concludes his season with an Olympic title in mountainbike and a victory in the Amstel Gold Race, among others.
