In early October, the creators of Disco Elysium left the ZA / UM team and one of them was Robert Kurvits, creative director and founder of the studio. Some key team members have confirmed that they are no longer a part of it.
The reason for the dissolution, writes ZA / UM co-founder Martin Luiga, is that “the studio no longer represents the spirit on which it was founded”. People and ideas, says Luiga, must be eternal, while organizations can be temporary.
Now Kurwitz sued against ZA / UM and the Kotaku website confirmed this event is a screenshot from the portal of the Ministry of Justice of Estonia, where it is written that the application for “receiving information and reviewing documents” has been submitted.
At the moment it is not known exactly what the cause is divided into, but it could be related to the allegations of unfair dismissal of Luigi. It could also be an attempt to get Disco Elysium rights back from shareholders, especially since Kurvitz spent 10 years developing this gaming universe.
In any case, the hearing will take place on November 28 – then we will know the details of the scandal.
