ANNOUNCEMENTS

Two general practitioners in Vlissingen were convicted by the medical disciplinary court after the death of a disabled boy in May 2021. One general practitioner received a warning, the other was reprimanded. They can continue to practice their profession.

The case revolves around a 13-year-old boy who died after being ill for four days. The boy was vomiting a lot and there were signs of dehydration. Doctors did not visit the boy.

According to the disciplinary committee, the primary care physicians made a wrong diagnosis, should have asked more questions, and failed to follow the guideline to physically examine a patient who is vomiting three days in a row.

The moment his grandmother, with whom he lived, wanted to go to the doctor’s office with his grandson, he collapsed. The ambulance nurses could do nothing else for him, writes the boy who died in the ambulance Zealand broadcasting.

A reprimand is entered in the BIG register (Professions in Individual Health) and remains visible for five years. An alert is not logged in the log.
