Discard two goal lead, Rossoneri draw

AC Milan they fail to keep their distance with Naples on the top Serie A 2022/2023. This is after the Rossoneri were matched as Roma 2-2.

In the match played at San Siro, Monday (9/1/2023) WIB early morning, Pierre Kalulu gave AC Milan the lead in the first round before being doubled by Tomaso Pobega in the second round.

Roma didn’t give up and scored twice in the last 10 minutes of the match, with Roger Ibanez being followed by Tammy Abraham in added time.

He added just one point, Milan remained in third position Serie A standings with 37 points, losing on goal difference to second-placed Juventus and seven lengths behind leaders Napoli.

The Wolves remain in sixth place in the standings with 31 points from 17 games.

Milan scored immediately and came close to scoring in the second minute, when Rafael Leao scored a cross that Sandro Tonali headed wide.

Milan indeed controlled the game but had difficulty creating clean chances in the Roma goal until 20 minutes had passed.

Only in the 28th minute did Milan find the first shot on goal from Brahim Diaz who received Tonali’s pass. Rui Patricio quickly swept it away.

From this occasion a corner was born which led to Pierre Kalulu’s goal. Tonali provided a mature pass which was headed clear by Kalulu and Patricio failed to block to give Milan a 1-0 lead.

Roma’s best chance comes in the 42nd minute with Nicola Zalewski who shoots in from the left. Overshadowed by Kalulu, Zalewski was still able to shoot at the far post, but his accuracy was not maintained and he went wide.

The 1-0 score lasted until halftime. Seven minutes after the break, Milan turned dangerous with Theo Hernandez attacking from the left and firing a shot from 20 metres, which Rui Patricio managed to block.

Two minutes later Patricio thwarted Milan’s chances again by deflecting Giroud’s header.

In the 77th minute Milan managed to double the lead, making it 2-0 through Tomaso Pobega. Without difficulty, Pobega leaked Leao’s decoy ball.

Roma managed to cut the score to 1-2 in the 87th minute when Lorenzo Pellegrini’s corner aimed at Roger Ibanez, who broke free in the penalty area and headed into Tatarusanu’s goal without difficulty.

Three points in sight vanished when Milan’s goal had to be conceded in the 93rd minute from Abraham’s goal. The England striker leaked the rebound from a header by Nemanja Matic which was cleared by Tatarusanu.
