MELBOURNE – Lewis Hamilton disappointed with 2022 Australian GP qualifying results. Seven-time world champion Formula 1 (F1) compared his Mercedes W13 car to a rattlesnake.

Hamilton had quite a hard time reaching maximum speed at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, Saturday (9/4/2022). Despite his efforts, the Mercedes AMG Petronas racer had to settle for fifth place with a record of 1 minute and 18.825 seconds.

The British racer is actually quite sure of the power his car has. However, the engine vibration problem which is quite annoying makes it unable to do much.

“I felt in certain laps that I went there was a bit more (power) in the car, so that’s a positive. However, I am still disappointed. Because I couldn’t maximize the speed,” Hamilton said, quoted by Crash.

“The problem is, when you go even faster, it’s pretty rough. He’s like a viper or a rattlesnake,” added the 37-year-old racer.

However, Hamilton could still smile a little. Although the car has a fifth grid, it is much better than the Saudi Arabian GP which has to start the race from 16th position.

“Compared to yesterday (free practice) and also the last race, I am happy that there is an improvement. In Jeddah it was very difficult because they were so far behind (when starting the race). What’s more, we were not able to make any significant progress,” he concluded.
