On 8 July, two-year-old Émile disappeared without a trace from his grandparents’ home in the mountain village of Vernet in the south of France.
A massive search operation was launched for the little boy, but without success.
Two months later, the police have still found no trace of the two-year-old. While the police question the residents again, the town’s mayor has decided to close the village to outsiders.

The reason is supposed to be ongoing journalists who, according to the mayor, are bothering the village’s residents.
– Residents no longer dare to open the blinds for fear of photographers, says mayor Francois Balique BFM.
The village is closed to outsiders until 15 September.
This is not the first time the village has been shut down. Also in August, mayor Balique did the same.

One of the police’s theories is that the disappearance may be due to a revenge riot with a political motive.
French media write that Colomban must have been a member of the far-right group Social Bastion when he studied. In 2021, both parents will have been on a political list linked to the right-wing populist Eric Zemmour, according to BFM.
In the interview, the parents use the opportunity to respond to the speculations.
– We have nothing to hide. We have not done anything objectionable, they say according to RTL and claim that information about their political views has been spread to blackmail them.
