The mysterious incident occurred after the UEFA Youth League match between the Belgian Antwerp and Shakhtar Donetsk on October 4.
On board the plane on which the team was returning to Ukraine, 19-year-old midfielder Alexander Rasputko was suddenly missing. On the eve of the match, the player agreed with Shakhtar on a new five-year contract. Therefore, the club included the player in the squad for the match with Antwerp.
Club representatives looked for the player at the airport, but their search ended with the player’s neatly folded uniform.
The footballer deleted all his posts on social networks and stopped answering phone calls. His whereabouts are still unknown.
Shakhtar in the Champions League
Shakhtar’s youth team lost heavily to Porto (1:4) in the Champions League and beat their peers from Antwerp with a score of 2:1. After two matches, the youth Shakhtar are in third place in the standings. Unlike the main Champions League, third place is eliminated from the tournament as there is no Europa Youth League.
The main team of the Donetsk club also scored 3 points, losing to Porto (1:3) and beating Antwerp with a score of 2:3. The Ukrainian team lost to the Belgians 0:2 in the first half, and snatched victory in the second.
