Teri Garr, the actress who played Phoebe Buffay’s mother in “Friends“, has died at the age of 79.
“Friends” fans are in mourning. This Tuesday, October 29, actress Teri Garr, known for her interpretation of biological mother Phoebe Buffay, died. Over more than six decades, the actress has left a lasting impression on spectators with her appearances on the small and big screen.
Teri Garr was born in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1944. The actress began her career at the start of the 1960s, as a dancer in several musical comedies, alongside Elvis Presley. She works for big names in American cinema like Mel Brooks in “Frankenstein Junior”, Francis Ford Coppola in “Secret Conversation” or Steven Spielberg in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.
The public discovered the actress in 1982, for her role as Sandy Lester in “Tootsie” by Sydney Pollack. A performance that allowed Teri Garr to obtain an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress at the 1983 ceremony.
