The Patriot’s build quality has long been a concern for drivers, and its tendency to rust has long been known. An example for the review was a 2013 SUV with a 2.2-liter engine and a classic 5-speed “mechanics”. The owner and author of the YouTube channel “Lenya Nemodny” explains that up to 70,000 km the car drove exclusively on asphalt and only consumables were changed in it. But as soon as we went to the off-road, “Patrick’s” got sick.
As for the engine, during the year of travel, the timing belt tensioner pulley broke more than once. This happened especially often after “wet” trips. In order to avoid such a problem, the roller must be abundantly lubricated, and it is better to carry a spare one with you.
Of the other major replacements in the UAZ Patriot, the driver notes: the universal joint of the cardan shaft, the cardan shaft itself, front pivots, the replacement of all gaskets, oil seals, struts.
“On the first trips to nature, I bent the upper steering rod. But here it was rather my fault, I was driving on the stumps, ”the driver explains.
In addition, subscribers to Drom and Drive2 portals note frequent suspension repairs. They also complain about the replacement of wheel bearings, as well as the replacement of gearbox oil seals.
