In December 2018, Marion Billard gave birth to her daughter Julia at the Grenoble University Hospital, at the end of a risky pregnancy. The young woman, who then weighs about forty kilos, calls for a cesarean. Childbirth is initiated without radio of the pelvis, through the vagina. “I saw myself die”, recalls Marion. Victim of a tear, the young woman still feels the consequences, two years later.
Her husband, Christophe, kept and classified all the documents attesting to the medical acts undergone by Marion. On the kitchen table of the family apartment in Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux, he spreads out piles of carefully classified files. He points out what he considers to be inconsistencies. “During childbirth, I saw that my wife had a tear all the way to the anal floor. However, the obstetrician-surgeon’s report speaks of a right lateral tear. According to a neuro-urologist we consulted in Lyon , the damage does not match the tear cited in the report. “
“I don’t wish it on anyone”
This damage is heavy. Since the birth, Marion is 80% disabled. She must use a catheter to urinate, and has definitely lost all sensation in the lower abdomen. “This is not a life”, slips the young woman. “I don’t wish that on anyone.”
“My wife entered the CHU valid, she came out invalid”. Christophe Billard
Marion can no longer practice her profession as a domestic help. Her husband, Christophe, stopped working to help her and take care of their daughter, now two years old. The couple live on Marion’s disability allowance, Christophe’s allowance, and help from associations such as the Food Bank.
A complaint for “obstetric violence”
The couple lodged a complaint with the administrative court, in order to obtain an expertise of the medical file, as well as with the criminal against X for “involuntary violence”. They consider that Marion was the victim of a medical error, and obstetric violence. They are not waiting for compensation, but rather an explanation “and that no woman has to undergo what I have undergone”, adds Marion.
“I called, sent letters, nobody listens to me” Marion Billard
“Our daughter is fine, that’s the main thing. But I can’t do anything anymore. I was passionate about dancing, I can’t practice anymore. All because a gynecologist wouldn’t listen to me. . They ruined my life. ”
Contacted, the CHU did not wish to speak.
