Disability: Locatelli, ‘last decree, then approval in the Council of Ministers’

(ANSA) – PALERMO, 08 APR – “The last decree relating to the enabling law on disability will arrive in the next few days, with definitive approval in the Council of Ministers. The reorganization of the civil disability assessment system will begin. there will be more visits that can be reviewed, let’s finally remove the useless and tiring journey that all families have to do every year, every two or three, even when they already have a confirmed disability”. This was stated by the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli, in Palermo, to journalists on the sidelines of the visit to the ‘Vivaio Ibervillea’, an area managed by the cooperative ‘La Solidarietà’, used for the reintegration process of disabled people into the world of work. “This is a form of relief, but also of simplification and de-bureaucratization of certifications and procedures – he underlined -. Furthermore, a trial is planned from 1 January 2025 in 6 Italian provinces, but the most important thing is that in that decree there will be the whole part of the introduction of the ‘life project’. It is a true accompaniment to people’s lives – he added – which will finally overcome the extreme fragmentations between health, socio-health and social services. But above all there is 20 million euros , starting from this year, a lot of training is needed.” Precisely to avoid bureaucratic delays, Minister Locatelli underlined that “in the commissions that will have to evaluate the projects there are all the actors of the territory and it will be there that the services must be activated and it will no longer be the people who have to go knocking at all the doors. This gives concreteness to the decree linked to the Pnrr, there is no going back. But to move forward – he continued – we need widespread training which will start through the ANCI and reach the municipalities, through the regions for territorial services, through the universities to already train professional profiles such as educators and social workers who operate in the area and together with the Third sector which reaches in a widespread way both internally and to families”.
