“Frankenstein’s Complex” was announced as a struggle between man and computer: “Which of them can create a better show? A person likes to think that only he can create art, but MI challenges this view.”
“This time the Playwright is called to the Arena. If he wins, he will receive almost as much as the Gladiator, but in case of a loss, the title of Playwright will have to be returned to the car,” the description of the show says.
The performance consists of Kārlis Krūmiņš’s dialogue with artificial intelligence, as well as scenes played by the actors, which were written by MI himself. As the creators of the show explained, “Frankenstein’s Complex” is a term introduced by Aizek Azimov, the author of science fiction. He used this term to denote fear of the mechanical man. The fear that the intelligent being we have created will turn against us and endanger human life.
The show “Frankenstein Complex” will be held in English in order to preserve as much as possible the typewritten text, however, the show will provide subtitles in Latvian. The director of the “Frankenstein Complex” is Valters Sīlis, while the drama was created by Kārlis Krūmiņš together with MI. The costume and scenography artist is Uģis Bērziņš, the music is composed by Arvīds Saulītis in collaboration with MI, and the lighting artist is Lauris Johansons. Latvian actors Inga Tropa and Kārlis Reijers, as well as Lithuanian actors David Breive and Vaids Maršalka will take the stage.
“Frankenstein Complex” was created in cooperation with Kaunas National Drama Theater. The performance is supported by the State Cultural Capital Fund.
