DiRT 5 reveals its career mode in detail – News

Announced in May, DiRT 5 is expected to be available in October, according to Codemasters. According to its communication plan unveiled a month ago, the studio is now focusing on career mode.

In this mode, players will embark on a series of races around the world, and will have to make a name for themselves. They will be quickly spotted by a certain Alex Janièek, voiced by Troy Baker, and who turns out to be a legend in the game world. Under his wing, players will progress, but they will obviously not be alone in wanting to become a legend. Opposite, they will find Bruno Duran, a veteran presented as ultra-competitive, cold and calculating, and who will be camped by Nolan North. Players will then watch the two legends clash before they can become masters in their own field. The whole story will be commented on in-game through a fictional podcast, which will involve different characters.

More concretely, the story will be divided into five chapters, offering various paths to players. They will have to complete a number of tests before unlocking a major event, then move on to the next chapter. In all, Codemasters promises 130 events across nine types of races, distributed in the different environments that will be offered. Also, depending on the results, it will be possible to unlock special events, in which you will have to face another driver head-to-head.

On the content side, players should find 20 brands, including Monster Energy, Sparco, Michelin, Fatlace and Codemasters. Each of these brands can become a sponsor, and it will be possible to unlock cosmetic elements linked to them as they progress. Players will be able to change sponsors whenever they want, but will have to cross off the rewards to come with the previous one. Finally, Codemasters specifies that the career will be partly playable with four players in split screen. As soon as a race contains at least four vehicles, a player can replace one of the AIs. This possibility is not only limited to the participation of friends, because their result will unlock more career elements than alone. So, playing together will allow you to progress faster, knowing that one player in another’s career will earn experience and money at stake for their own career.
