The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of two new directors at the June 8 regular meeting.
Kara Hoeflinger was hired as Director of Music Programs.
Hoeflinger has worked in music education since 2006. Most recently, she was the Fine Arts Coordinator at Comal ISD. Throughout her time in music education, she has held positions as Associate Director of Bands, Fine Arts/Foreign Language Department Chair, and Elementary Music teacher. She earned her bachelor’s in Music Education from Baylor University and master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
Sylvia Gamboa was hired as Director of Guidance and Counseling.
Gamboa has worked in education since 1996. Most recently, she was the Lead Counselor at South Texas ISD Science Academy. Gamboa has served as an English teacher, Professional Registrar/Academic Advisor, Technology Academy Counselor/Facilitator, School Counselor, and Lead Counselor throughout her time in education. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American and her Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University Kingsville.
