In Pereira the guaduales no longer cry, as the Directorate of Parks, Green Zones and Equipment anticipates silvicultural maintenance, which are all technical activities related to the management of trees located in the urban public space. “This maintenance consists of the removal of guaduas that no longer provide a service within the guadual, such as fractured, overturned, overripe, dry, dead, so that the guadual can maintain its structure and that these urban forests continue to provide their services. ecosystems ”, explained Germán Cardona, director of parks in Pereira.
A study of the Technological University of Pereira (UTP), establishes that in our city, according to a preliminary inventory, there are 98.06 hectares of guaduales, distributed in 202 fragments, located in 427 neighborhoods distributed in the 19 municipalities that make up the urban area of the resort.
From the Directorate of Parks, citizens are invited to take care, watch over and protect these urban lungs, not to leave waste when visiting them, not to remove plant and animal species, not to set fires on them and not to cut the guaduas, as this implies economic and economic sanctions. of custody.
