On September 24, the Latvian National Theater will host the premiere of Artūrs Jankovskis’ play “The Oligarch”, directed by Toms Treinis, the theater representatives informed.
The main play of the young playwright Artūrs Jankovskis is not related to the theater, but “his sense of humor mocked the entire theater jury of 10 people who heard his suggestions for the play idea in the” fishing “competition,” the theater representatives reveal.
The finished play is offered to the audience in the hope that they will also be fascinated by the absurd but well-understood young Oskars Kaktins’ desire to save Latvia by simply removing businessman Ainārs Krūmiņš … In order to implement his plan alone, The bush cannot be taken with the bare hand.
The play is about punishment, forgiveness, and the space between these concepts; the search for where the tendency to punish begins and where – the desire to forgive.
Starring Normunds Laizāns and Igors Šelegovskis.
Director Tom Treinis says about the production: “When I read the play with the actors, we had a lot of questions and a lot of ideas on how to stage this work, we were looking for a way to develop this story even further, to make the topic even deeper and more meaningful. to the viewer.
It seems to me that in our interpretation this is a story about a 21st century hero or at least a man who believes that it will be, because it will free Latvia from at least one oligarch.
This work is about naive ideals, belief in a better system and Latvia. The hero in our story will not be capable and powerful of everything, but a person who does not stand out with anything and simply seems to be doing his job, but quietly dreams of becoming “something”. It was also important for me to look for a new place in the world through this work – where my thoughts and biography coincide with the main character’s point of view and where we are similar. ”
