The background of the story is Los Angeles, a city full of opportunities, but also full of hardships and dilemmas. Wei Lan was imprisoned for 15 years for robbery. Now after he was released from prison, he tried to change his mind, but faced with various real problems, his life was full of challenges. When he meets his high school sweetheart Dorothy (Lorelei, played by Jena Malone) again, a new love story begins. Wei Lan didn’t care that Dorothy was already a single mother of three children. They decided to live together and share the responsibility of taking care of the children. However, the reality of life soon put them into financial difficulties, and Weilan began to consider returning to the path of crime. All this put their love and family facing a serious test.

The characters in the film all performed well, especially Pablo Schreiber and Jena Malone, whose acting skills were impressive. Schreiber imbues Weiland with realism and complexity, and he successfully portrays a man’s attempt to change his destiny. Malone brought a depth of emotion to Dorothy, and her performance allowed the audience to feel the character’s inner struggle. The three child actors in the film, Chancellor Perry, Amelia Borgerding and Ryan Findley, also performed well, adding vitality and realism to the story.

Director Sabrina Doyle uses excellent directing skills and delicate narrative techniques to bring the audience into the world of Wei Lan and Dorothy. The film’s cinematography is also worth mentioning, capturing both the Los Angeles cityscape and the emotional changes of the characters, creating an immersive feeling. The film has been recognized at multiple international film festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, Cleveland Film Festival, etc. At the same time, the film also received high praise with a 90% freshness rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website, which proves the audience’s love and praise for the film.
