Dr. Mohamed Hussein, Director of the Lung Transplant Unit at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, said that there was great hope for Sahar, the deceased who had the first lung transplant, pointing out that the success rate of lung transplant usually reaches 90%.
Hussein explained, in a phone call to the program “One Last Word”, broadcast on “ONE” satellite channel, today, Sunday, that after 14 days of the operation; All the assistive devices were abandoned for the girl, and she recovered and began to respond, adding: “The upset was as much as the hope we had after Sahar’s response to treatment, and we did our utmost efforts, but the condition was serious and the body of Sahar, who had the first lung transplant in Egypt, refused the new lung.”
He added that her two brothers, who donated a lobe of their lungs to her, both recovered and gradually returned to their work despite the hardships of their nature in the field of architecture as construction workers, and we are trying to help them in order to provide a new job that is less laborious.
And he continued: “We hosted the family of Sahar, who had the first lung transplant in Egypt, to honor them, and the health condition of Sahar, who had the first lung transplant in Egypt, was difficult and we were frustrated after her death.”
