Anderson Barros, football director at Palmeiras, confirmed the negotiation with Santos by Lucas Lima in an interview with Bandeirantes Radio.
The midfielder was approved by coach Fernando Diniz and would come on loan, but the conversation did not progress. Verdão looks for others interested in the player.
“He is a dedicated and hardworking professional, who lost his space. We discussed an initial possibility with Santos, but there was no progress. We always discuss Lucas’ situation and he is aware of what the club thinks, since we it is transparent,” said Barros.
“He needs to increase the minute. If the way for him to find it is a loan or a sale, that’s how we’ll proceed. Today, we understand that this is the best path to be followed. But that doesn’t mean that he can’t regain space,” he added.
According to the calculation of the Sports Gazette, presidents Andres Rueda and Maurício Galiotte triggered a hit by Lucas Lima, but Santos backed off due to the rejection of the fans and the Management Committee itself after the turbulent departure at the end of 2017 for the rival. Peixe would pay the smallest part of the 31-year-old athlete’s salary and currently outside the plans of coach Abel Ferreira.
