He said, “I refused to implement their wish, so the project stopped, after they spent about two million dollars, but this did not matter to them in any way,” indicating that he was working on another project about a Muslim girl living in New York, against hate and terrorism, and it was expected to be implemented by Sony” before they later withdrew it.
He referred to the funding of Arab art projects by Western institutions, saying: “This funding is always dependent, especially if the story deals with an issue, in which case there will be a kind of strict censorship . “
He explained that “there is a big market for Arab films in the world, but the problem lies in the distributors who are connected to the Zionist project,” indicating that social media platforms helped him and others to reach Arab works of art to audiences around the world.

Hani Abu Asaad confirmed his continued desire to show valuable films that have specific messages in addition to the entertainment goal, saying: “I tend to show Palestinian films because they are more realistic for me, and also to send projects the action with content that I’m sure I’ll get access to. participate in film festivals and gain public attention. ” At the same time, this equation is very difficult. “

It should be noted that Hani Abu Asaad is considered one of the most important Palestinian directors, and two films he directed succeeded in being nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. The first time was in 2005, with the movie “Paradise Now,” and the second time in 2013, with the movie “Omar.”
He also won many awards from various international film festivals for his films in which he dealt with the Palestinian issue.
