“I love the film we made,” says Greta Gerwig, who has bet on a new adaptation of the classic by Louisa May Alcott to which it gives a modern resonance, with a four-star distribution, by Saoirse Ronan to Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet or Louis Garrel.
“And there are so many beautiful films made by women this year,” added this New Yorker, who became known as an actress in “Greenberg” or “Frances Ha” by Noah Baumbach before directing Lady bird, Golden Globe for Best Comedy in 2018.
Few women appointed
“I want to give them lots of prizes. Women should receive all the statuettes. I think it would be wonderful! ”She says.

“Take risks”

By adapting The Four Daughters of Doctor March, a book in which women emancipate themselves – in particular Jo March, writer in the making with a rebellious character -, Greta Gerwig claims a feminist approach, like that of Louisa May Alcott, advocating “a feminism that does not exclude not, but who wants to raise everyone and find a better form of masculinity. “
