Frank Ketelaar, creator and director of HUG, believes the crime series has reached its expiration date after three seasons. He says that on Thursday NRC.
“After three series I have usually told and invented everything”, says Ketelaar. “Just look at House of Cards: sometimes you have to be tough as a spiritual father and know when to stop. “
According to the director, the success of a series depends on the involvement the writer has with the characters. “You have the situation series, which takes place in a location where many people come: a law firm, a hospital, a police station.”
“The main characters will then undergo little or no changes, you can go on for twelve seasons with stories like that. Adultery in HUG.”
Thom Hoffman and Thomas Acda have been added to the cast of the final season. The leading roles in the series are again reserved for Georgina Verbaan, Jacob Derwig and Barry Atsma.
