Director Baumane’s film “My Marriage Project” Receives Jury Recognition Awards at Two Festivals
Riga, June 21, LETA. Director and artist Signe Baumane’s new full-length animated film for adults “My Marriage Project”, made in the studio “Lokomotīve”, has received jury recognition awards at two festivals.
According to Kristīne Matīsa, a representative of the National Film Center (NKC), the animated film has earned special attention elsewhere in the world after its world premiere at the Tribeka Film Festival in New York.
Almost simultaneously, it premiered at the European Animation Festival in Annecy, France, and its Latin American premiere in Guadalajara, Mexico, where one of the most important festivals on the American continent. At both festivals, the film was highlighted with special jury awards.
Both the film director and the filmmakers from Riga and Luxembourg came to France from New York to attend the European premiere at the International Animation Film Festival in Annecy.
The film was represented at the Guadalajara Film Festival and awarded to producer Robert Vinovsky. At the Guadalajara Festival, Baumane’s film was selected for the International Feature Film Competition and won a Jury Award.
An NKC spokeswoman said the film tells the story of a young woman’s love for Zelma, which involves mythical sirens teaching them to strive for an ideal marriage.
The film is a co-production of Latvia, the USA and Luxembourg, created with the financial support of NKC. New Europe Film Sales distributes the film worldwide.
