What is it about?
The pollution from the chemical factory 3M in Zwijndrecht was again brought to light by the excavation works in the context of the Oosterweel connection. High concentrations of the chemical PFOS were found in the soil at the construction site, which can cause all kinds of health problems, such as cancer.
Although the problem has been known for years, it was only recently that the first measures taken. In several places it is not recommended to eat eggs from your own chickens, pregnant women and children should also be careful with vegetables from their own garden.
In the Flemish Parliament there is a parliamentary inquiry committee was set up to find out who knew what when and whether mistakes have occurred.
