Leipzig/Dresden. If you want to escape the cold, wet autumn weather, you can reach many sunny destinations by direct flight from the airports in Saxony. The winter plan came into force at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports last Sunday. 16 destinations in nine countries can be reached from Leipzig/Halle. From Dresden there are eleven destinations in six countries. The winter flight schedule is valid until March 30, 2024. The overview.

Abu Dhabi, Tenerife, London: The destinations from Leipzig/Halle Airport

This winter, two metropolises on the Arabian Peninsula, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, can be reached non-stop from Leipzig/Halle. Twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Etihad Holidays flights connect Leipzig/Halle with Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Flights to Dubai will also operate twice weekly from November 9th. The airline Smart Lynx Airlines flies to the metropolis for the tour operator FTI. This means Dubai is back on offer for the first time since 2019.

Condor offers most flights from Leipzig/Halle Airport. The holiday regions of Arrecife, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Funchal, Hurghada and Mallorca are served with a total of up to 28 weekly departures. European Air Charter offers flights to sunny destinations around the Red Sea and the Atlantic. Fuerteventura and Hurghada are also served, as are Gran Canaria and Marsa Alam.

Lufthansa continues to connect Leipzig/Halle with the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul up to five times a week. Austrian Airlines offers flights to Vienna. You can also get to London with Ryanair.

Gran Canaria, Antalya, Amsterdam: The destinations from Dresden Airport

While Leipzig continues to go to London, Dresden has lost this destination with its winter plan. However, the Amsterdam hub continues to be served daily. Swiss connects Dresden and Zurich. Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti fly to Frankfurt four times a day and Munich will also be served by Lufthansa in the future. Eurowings takes travelers to Düsseldorf and also offers flights to Palma de Mallorca.

The holiday airline Sundair flies to Gran Canaria and Tenerife as well as Hurghada. From mid-February there will also be flights to the Canary Island of Fuerteventura once a week. What is new is that flights from Dresden to Antalya are now more frequent than before. The megacity in Turkey is served by both Sun Express and Corendon Airlines.

More travelers at Saxon airports

Despite all climate concerns, the desire to fly on vacation has recently increased again. Nevertheless, passenger numbers at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports have not yet reached pre-pandemic levels, as Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG announced in October. In total, around 2.3 million passengers had taken off from Saxony airports by the end of September, including 1.6 million from Leipzig/Halle and around 705,000 from Dresden. While Leipzig, according to the company, is primarily benefiting from the renewed desire for vacation travel, Dresden is being used more as a feeder to international hubs. (with dpa)
